Claire Russell’s unconventional education,which included lessons in sanskrit, meditation and vedic philosophy, plus a passion for gymnastics sowed the seeds of interest in yoga as an adult. She trained in vinyasa flow in London and India in 2007 and since has completed both pregnancy and mum and baby yoga trainings with Uma Dinsmore Tuli and studied Yoga Anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff. She also completed the Yoga for Insomnia training with Lisa Sanfilipo.
After the birth of her first child, Claire opened up her classes to parents with little ones in tow providing a space for mums to share their practice of yoga with their little ones close by. During this time she consulted and took courses with women’s health physios, she explored the work of movement experts in this field and developed an effective practice to support postpartum healing. She continued her work in this field by training in the Restore Your Core program which specialises in helping women with core issues such as postpartum issues, diastasis recti, incontinence, and back pain. Restore Your Core is a method that retrains our pelvic floor muscles to be functional, reflexive, responsive, and supportive to our body.
She also offers one to one sessions from her home studio ‘the yoga nest’ for her postnatal students, yoga for insomnia clients and clients with core issues. Claire is a guest teacher on the Lushtums postnatal teacher training program.
