One to One: If you are new to yoga and would like to learn the basics before you jump into a group class then this is a good way to build your confidence. As well as learning correct alignment classes can be designed for your own particular body type or take a more therapeutic focus. Alternatively if you are a seasoned yogi who would like focus on particular poses or other aspects of yoga then this is an opportunity to deepen your practice.
Couples: This can be a lovely way to share yoga with someone. It may be that one person is more experienced than the other and would like to introduce their partner to the practice in a private setting. Couples private classes are fun and intimate and can also incorporate pair work providing the opportunity to learn the art of supporting and adjusting each other in the poses.
Small groups: If you have the space and want to get a small group together you can have your very own bespoke class in the comfort of your own home. This can work for a girls pampering day, a mixed family group or if you have space at work a corporate leisure activity.
Pregnancy: There are plenty of great pregnancy yoga classes out there and I think at this time it’s beneficial to find one if you can to get a sense of community during this time. However if you already have one child at home or you can’t find a class that suits, a private session may be the solution. I have taught plenty of classes with older children running around in the background, joining in for a short time and then running off again so don’t let that put you off. Yoga can really help with any uncomfortable symptoms of pregnancy and also prepare you for birth.
Post natal: During the early days post birth, it can be hard to get out of the house and at times feel very lonely. Once you have been given the ok by your doctor to exercise and have had your 6 week check up then having a private class at home with a teacher you are comfortable with could be just what you need. Being able to stop and feed or tend to the baby during class is all part of it, as sessions will work around you and your baby and how you are feeling on the day.
